Editorial Intern

Sage Publishing

October 2025 to Present Thousand Oaks, CA (remote)

Assisted in the content editing of academic textbooks, reviewed a five-chapter test bank for a new edition and produced purchase orders to pay content reviewers.

As a U.S. College Editorial Intern at Sage, I supported the content editing of two to three academic textbooks over a three-month contract, working inside the systems the editorial team uses every day and taking ownership of the quality review for a textbook test bank.

October

  • Trained in the sites and resources used across Sage: Sage Central (the production hub for every manuscript Sage acquires), Enigma (where textbook test banks are housed and reviewed) and Confluence (trainings and step-by-step instructions for staff).
  • Used Microsoft Copilot to research whether artificial intelligence could produce lecture notes in the required format. The results were positive: the notes were relevant, clear and correctly formatted.

November

  • Trained in Paylocity and produced 12 purchase order forms to pay content reviewers, then worked through the weekly payment logs.
  • Learned Airtable, extracted the details of 50 reviewers for an updated textbook edition and organized them in the database.
  • Trained in watermarking and removing sensitive information from textbook and contract PDFs.
  • Began reviewing an outdated test bank in Enigma for five chapters of a textbook’s new edition.

December

  • Completed the test bank review for all five chapters and flagged the questions that needed replacing because of updated information for the head content editor.
